The Association Montessori Internationale was founded by Maria Montessori more than 90 years ago, to continue the legacy of her work. Montessori is an educational approach which focuses on the development of the whole child. Maria Montessori believed in the power of education for social reform, and championed the human rights of the child throughout her life. Today, AMI works with training centres, affiliated societies, schools and educators to bring Montessori education to communities across the world.

In March 2020, BBC StoryWorks filmed Montessori education in action at two schools in Minnesota, USA. Watch our film to see how Montessori education supports communities.
