Mary Hayes was appointed to the Association
Montessori International (AMI) Board in 1998; she
became General Secretary of AMI on August 31, 2000.
She joined the staff of the Montessori College,
Dublin in 1977, eventually becoming responsible for
the elementary course. From 1986 to 1988 she
directed two AMI elementary courses run by the
Toronto Montessori Institute, Canada. She has
lectured on Montessori elementary level to parents,
diploma holders and schools, helping to spread
Montessori principles in many countries.
