Doctor Catherine Dolto was born in 1946 of a French mother and an Ukranian father. She studied Miming, Acting and Sociology before turning to Medicine in 1969. She specialized in Paediatrics, preventive medicine for children and then opened her General Practice in Paris in 1978.In 1980 she started working with Mr Franz Veldman in Haptonomy and from 1989 she left her General Practice to dedicate herself fully to Haptopsychotherapy. Doctor Catherine Dolto assisted Mrs Françoise Dolto at the Trousseau Hospital for a year and participated in radio programs such as "Doctor X" (Europe 1) and "When the child appears" (France Inter). A member of the "Comité d'Honneur et de la Réflexion" of UNICEF, President of the "Archives Françoise Dolto Society" and author of numerous publications, Doctor Catherine Dolto was honoured for her work by the French government with the Légion d'Honneur (1997) and l'Ordre du Mérite (2000).
