Andrés Guerrero, a national of Chile, is an Education Programme Officer in UNICEF, New York. He joined UNICEF in 1990. Currently he advises the Organization in all matters related to Education for Development, including adolescent education and peace education.
He supervises UNICEFs electronic forum, Voices of Youth, an internet rights project (http://www.unicef.org/). There young people learn about global issues, particularly how they affect children and young people worldwide as well as share their views with others and explore ways to take action in their own communities.
He also participates in developing UNICEFs global education strategies in early childhood development, enhancing girls education, improving the quality of education and restoring education in conditions of crisis. His expertise on education relates both to industrialised and developing countries. His work has enabled him to gained extensive experience in managing curriculum development activities that promote participatory learning processes and teaching strategies to challenge and reduce bias and discrimination, and encourage democratic participation. This year, he has been involved in relief work in El Salvador following the two earthquakes there. A keynote speaker and facilitator in many international events, he has also lectured at European universities. His mother tongue is Spanish. His working languages are English and French.
